Food Stash Foundation
Food Stash Foundation is a non-profit food recovery business in Vancouver BC looking to reduce food waste and provide meals to those in need.
Partnering with P.E.A.C.E., Food Stash will have weekly food boxes for Farm Animal Sanctuaries in the Lower Mainland. If you would like more information please contact our Farm Animal Sanctuary Representative at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Grocery Stores and Vegetable Farms
Your best bet to get consistent free feed is to contact your local grocery stores or vegetable farms. Any vegetables that are bruised or deemed not sellable, will get thrown away. If there isn’t a local organization like FoodMesh or Food Stash in place, your best bet is to ask stores and farms close to you directly.
*NOTE* Connecting with local fruit and vegetable farmers helps with cutting down on packaging and label removal. It will save you a lot of time in the long run! Also a great way is to connect with them is at local farmers markets. Add that they are contributing to a zero-waste model for their business to promote!
KNOW WHAT IS TOXIC
With getting lots of free veggies and fruits, please make sure to not feed your animals any toxic food for their specific species. Open Sanctuary Project is a great resource with a list of food that’s toxic to farm animals.
